Meet the New Member: Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon

Overview: Congresswoman Scanlon attended Colgate University earning her BA in history in 1980, and went on to earn her JD from the Univ. of Pennsylvania in 1984.  She then worked as a lawyer in private practice where she focused on pro bono causes and directed 650 lawyers throughout the practice on how they would allocate their 43,000 hours of free legal service.  She later served on the Wallingford-Swarthmore Tax Commission from 2006-07, and then the Wallingford-Swarthmore School Board from 2007-15.  In 2016 she ran for and won the seat representing the newly re-districted PA 6th Congressional district in the Philly suburbs.
