Overview:  Cong. Loebsack's career trajectory was both challenging and inspiring -- having been raised in poverty and by a single parent.  He grew up in Sioux City, and later attended Iowa State University where he received both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees.  He then went on to earn his PhD from UC Davis.  After years of teaching at Cornell College, Cong. Loebsack ran for and won election to the US Congress in 2007 where he has represented his district with a message of constituent service, offering hope, job creation, and support for the middle class.  The Congressman currently serves on one of the most important committees -- the Energy & Commerce Committee, which has jurisdiction over energy policy, healthcare, trade, telecommunications, the environment, and consumer affairs
